Cleaning stuff out can be simple, fun and easy. Plus, the only reason you're doing it is because some part of you wants or needs to. Remind yourself (as you're deciding what to do) that all of this spring cleaning stuff is up to you and that it's nice to have clean closets, drawers and be able to find those papers when you need them! You're making your life nicer. :)
Now, Let's get rid of stuff! Yay! Now, as you're cleaning everything out, try to think of positive things to say to yourself. You can come up with your own affirmations or have complete dialogs with yourself. The catch? (Really, it's the key!)Well, it is to convince yourself that this is good and give yourself something positive to focus on. The more you do this, the better your expectations will become.
Cleaning everything out should be a
fun and 'lightening' experience. If it stresses you out or you have a hard time with letting go of stuff, check out some of our downloads that ease the worries. (Yes, they help, And, yes, they are worth it.) There's nothing worse than feeling like you're loosing something you can't get back or the feeling of having something taken away from you. Plus, it'll make sorting a whole bunch easier!

3. Set specific times aside for only that box, room, etc. Not too long and not too short and a start and end date. :) You want this to be easy not something to dread or a never ending project!
4. Have a 'Good Job!' reward for yourself before you ever start!

So, what about keeping it this way?!! Ack!
do some journaling on you. Figure out what you do best. Are you a morning person or a night person? When are you the most energized and/or efficient? When do you like to get things done? After you figure out what suits you best, come up with a simple schedule; meaning: one day a week or month. After you do the days, then decide on hours at a time. If you work better in short bursts, maybe every morning you go through stuff for 20 minutes or do regular upkeep for a half an hour. All of this is very personal. You want to work
with yourself and your natural habits and routines. If you have trouble getting stuff out of your head at night, put a journal by your bedside and get in the habit of writing things down that keep you up. Tell yourself that after you jot it down, it's time for sleep. If you have trouble getting up early in the morning, make a deal with yourself~if you get up early ___ and clean/sort/whatever, on ____ you can sleep in without any worries. Try it. Talking to yourself really works!
